I understand your concerns.

It's true Haiti is no safe country.

And my comment is not aimed at students such as yourself who are financing their own education.

I'm referring to students who receive scholarships from the Haitian government to study abroad.

When the government finances a students education it does so with the understand that the student will come back to contribute to the betterment of Haitian society.

No doubts things are bad in Haiti but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take the necessary steps to improve the situation.

I don't think we should turn our back on the country simply because we're not subject the misery our fellow countrymen are subject to. One way to help Haiti is by improving the education system.

It doesn't concern me that you don't want to go back nor am i saying you should go back. All I'm saying is that the government should focus more on building better schools and improving the ones we already have so more students will have access to a good education.

By not doing so we're dooming all the young Haitians who will never have the opportunity to study abroad.

Many of them turn to a life of crime because the country has nothing to offer.

I'm not by no mean excusing somebody's decision to turn to a life of crime.

but i think the government needs to more to help young haitians.
