1st time traveler to Haiti solicits advice!

< Previous | Home | Next >

Two fellow parishioners & I, one of whom has traveled to Haiti before, are going to the Central Plateau later this month to visit our sister parish.

We have been assisting for the past 4 years w/ its school & are considering now whether we should expand our focus.

One matter being considered is whether we could help the community in its efforts to be more economically secure.

At present, our friends are primarily subsistance farmers.

We are studing what others are doing in Haiti, especially in the Central Plateau region, to see what is sustainable.

We need all the help we can get, so we do not overstep ourselves.

So, I am asking, do you have any recommendations, thoughts, ideas, comments or whatever?

Anything along those lines, even criticism, would be most welcome.

Thank you for your time and wisdom.
