Monclas,

I am all for competition and low fares.

I applaud Delta for joining the bunch and I think it was long over due. But why are you asking me all of these question for wich I have no answers?

My point was not about taxes, but rather about building airports.

As I said before, Airlines do not build airports and runways, governments do.
secondly.

You said that you pay $90 + $10 in taxes flighing to Dominican Republic and that the airline takes its cut and the rest goes to build runways.

That is completely false.

Your information is flawed.

American Airline (AA) does not keep any of the taxes collected from tickets sold. The whole taxe dollars go directly to the government which in turn uses that tax dollar to build airports, renovate airports and build runways.

What I am not sure about is the splitting of the tax dollar paid in US with the government of the country you traveling to.

In case of Haiti, according to what I heard, US government splits the tax dollar collected in US with the Haitian government and therefore the Haitian government doesn't collect another tax from a traveler leaving Haiti, but I am not sure about that since everybody pays a tax anyway when leaving Haiti.

I just bought a ticket for which I was charged $134 tax. This $134 tax goes directly to the US government.

According to the deal, US government is supposed to split that $134 tax with the Haitian government since I am traveling to Haiti.

The Haitian government should not charge me another tax on my way back, but I always paid a tax everytime when I leave Haiti.

The Haitian government should use that tax dollar to expand the airport and build runways and not the airlines.

The airlines should be responsible to build their own terminals which they don't do.
