There is no doubt that everybody knows Jimmy Jean-Louis is Haitian natif natal.

But when it comes to Will Smith, Eddie Murphy (who happens to be my favorite), Sidney Poitier, and Denzel Washington, the jury is still out with the verdict.

I have watched an pretty lengthy interview of Sidney Poitier one time, and he said nothing about his father being Haitian when he talked about his family and origin.

Though he did say contrary to the public believe, he was born in Miami during his parents' trip to the U.S., and that his parents were from (I think) Martinique.

According to U.S. constitution and laws, once born on U.S. soil you are without a doubt a US-born citizen regardless where your parents are from. I could agree that all of these people are Haitian descents from either their father's side or their mother's side, or from both parents.

Does any of these people recognize and embrace their Haitian roots/blood/ancestry, or otherwise?

Often, I listened to these celebrities giving interviews or talk about their life, not once I ever heard any of them talking about their Haitian side of the family.

Could it be possible they are ashamed or would be ashamed to identify themselves
with their Haitian roots, or it because they don't believe for one second there is any drop of Haitian blood running in their veins, etc...?

One person sometime ago that Kenny Rogers is from of Haitian parents too.

Now, my question is, what do you want me to do with this information?

Do you want me to jump up and down statically happy for knowing these heavy weight celebrities are of Haitian descent?

Why should I give a **it when they are so ashamed identifying themselves as people of Haitian descents?

Jimmy Jean-Louis and Wycliff Jean are the only 2 big successful stars in the U.S. who feel totally comfortable bragging about their Haitian origin/roots and ancestry, etc...these are the ones that admire the most.

For the other ones, I admire their works greatly, but that as far as it goes.
