Great analysis but you forgot one important fact: its the corrupt government of Haiti while proclaiming to be "noirist" yet stole the taxes, the international aid money even the IMF development funds that belonged to the people their own people! They did not build the low cost housing for the masses, the infrastructures, the roads, the schools in order to have a working class population to attract businesses and tourism.

Their thug mentality resulted in hundreds of thousands of Haitians loosing their lives during the past decades alone.

Its the government who ran the intellectuals and most of the bourgeois out. What did they think that was going to happen?

They are so short sighted.

Now you have a few Syrians and Palestinians who did nothing for Haiti and only intermarry each other as the elites while most of the old mulattoes and educated blacks (old elites) left the country a long time ago. Their children and grand-children do not have the desire to return to such filthy backward violent country, regardless of the courageous history.

Those who were and are in power are shortsighted; now they have to deal with the mess they in fact created.

The diaspora are not going to invest period.

Nobody wants to be robbed and killed for what they have worked for. What would their quality of life be like regardless or the weather and the flora?

There are so many other islands and states with the same tropical or sub-tropical weather to choose from. At the end Haiti and the Haitians who remained are going to lose the country to people who have no love for Haitians and are out to make a quick buck. At the end its the people who pay for the shortsightedness of their so called leaders.
