Jean-bas,

I agree with the overall "insinuation" context of your post, but you have not been totally fair to Haiti.

The failure of Haiti is not "black and white" and can be very confusing to many who cannot/refuse to use critical thinking and past history.

No one can make a fair argument nor write a constructive essay about Haiti by taking the international community and mostly US, Canada, France out of the equation.

As you mentioned and I agreed, we, Haitians, must take blame for our country failure, but only part of the blame.

Looking back in history, the international community is to be blamed for 75% of Haiti's failure and that is according to white people's assertion, not mine. Why do you want to take white people out of the equation for Haiti's failure when they're admiting it themselves?

Though you said it well that those 17 countries in the Caribbean owned or that are English territories are doing well, more so than Haiti.

What you failed to acknowledge, however, is that these countries are not independent or totally independent.

These countries are still running by the British system.

Great Britain provides them with a system and the necessary to live on and keeps them from political tumoil and from falling apart.

Although Dominican Republic is totally independent, but the United States is still maintaining a very tight but special relationship with Dominican Republic.

Can you, with all honesty, tell me when was the last time the United States has ever imposed an "economic saction/embargo" against Dominican Republican since the end of US occupation of this country?

I know you can't because the United States never imposed any economic sanction/embargo against Domican Republic.

Now, can you tell me with all honesty when was the last time the United States, United Nation, and the rest of the international community have imposed an economic sanction/embargo on Haiti?

I would say since 1804, and has gotten worse since Francois Duvalier (Papa Doc).

The United States started its economic sanction/embargo against Haiti by refusing to recognize Haiti as a free and independent country for 62 years since 1804; meaning the United States did not have any diplomatic relationships and trade with Haiti for 62 years.

Second, Haiti was forced by US and other white countries to clean out its coffer and pay $91 million in gold to France so France could recognize Haitian's freedom and independence.

In 1992, George Bush (father) had imposed a naval barricade on Haiti's waters to stop all trade/commerce/business with Haiti which collapsed the entire Haiti's economy in just 1 month.

The most respected economists said at the time that it would take Haiti another 100 years to get the economy back to where it was before the collaps.

Since 1991 there wasn't any US factories left in Haiti, not one! at the time of the quake there wasn't any foreign investors in Haiti.

Long story short, these are all the white man doing, not Haitians.

But I do agree that Haitians had embarked in the killing of their own citizens and stealling from the public coffer, ect. etc...

My point is, it would be naive and even idiotic for anyone to believe that Haiti could have progressed/developed while under centuries of economic sanctions/embargoes and isolation.

It will never happen!
