The time is now

Dear Konfreres

We have a need to go back to the fundamental teachings of Jesus, the Black Christ, the Messiah, the Way to find out whether we are indeed believing in the practicing the "Togetherness" of our ancestors.

It cannot be that we are all practicing the correct and true "Togetherness" when our beliefs are so different from one another.

Today, Haitians, descendants and we are treated with contempt and dishonor.

Our "Togetherness" is denigrated, our country occupied, our people starved and killed, our women raped, humiliated, then, we are not independent.

We are under pressure to conform to our oppressors' wishes about how we should behave, how we should govern our country, how we should think.

For the reaction of many is to become more and more divided and angry.

Angry and divided people cannot think properly.

So divided that some of our people reacting irrationally (Gros-Morne, Gonaives, Cap, Petit-Goave, Saint Marc, etc.).

They launch their own attacks, killing just about their brothers or sisters to vent their anger and frustration, and no one does anything to stop them. The enemy retaliates through, ONG, OEA, FMI and other means, and puts more pressure on us. In addition, the government has no choice but to give in to accept the directions of the enemy, literally to give up the independence of action, with this, some become angrier.

Every attempt at a peaceful solution is sabotaged by more indiscriminate attacks calculated to anger the enemy and prevent any peaceful solution.

Nevertheless, the attacks solve nothing for we are more oppressed.

Today, there is a feeling of hopelessness among Haitians.

Some feel that we can do nothing right.

They believe that things can only get worse.

Haiti will forever be oppressed and dominated.

We will forever poor, backward and weak. Some believe this is the will of God that the proper state of the Haitians is to be poor and oppressed.

Some believe this is for our way that we had our independence.

However, is it true that we should do and can do nothing for ourselves?

It is true that since 1804, we refuse to exert any power to save Haiti from the humiliation and oppression.

Is there no other way than to fight against each other?

Yes, surely, the years of struggle of our ancestors can provide us with some guidance as to what we can and should do. However, we actually ignore all of them. If we use our faculty to think, then we should know that we are acting irrationally.

We fight without any objective, without any goal. Some of us sacrifice lives unnecessarily, achieving nothing other than to attract more humiliation.

It is surely time that we pause to think, but will this be wasting time?
