Similar to the book campaign, I was talking to an American lady who told me that she was part of a woman group that is making dresses to send to Haiti so girls can look clean, nice, beautiful as a deterent to this rape and sexual crime going on in Haiti unoticed.

And my surprise answer to her was "really?" You have got to be kidding me! well, she said, the men rape them and sexually assaulting them because they look dirty and therefore become target, preys, and more vulnerable.

My reply was "since when rape and sexual assault was due to lack of hygiene and a woman/girl not looking gorgeous/attractive?

I went further to tell her, in fact your group is putting them in even greater danger for rape and sexual assualt because those men will look at them and see how well dressed they how atractive they are now, and that will make them more vulnerable to those monster men. I told her that she must understand that Haitian men are very attracted to nice looking well dressed women/girls.

Well, guess what happened since our talk?

She doesn't speak to me anymore.

I am not against anyone sending nice clothes to Haitian girls in Haiti, but they have to be careful about the intention and the purpose for doing it.

After the earthquake, there was a pastor (American) who was so overwhelmed by the destruction, decided to build a model of one room "mud" house to send to Haiti, and put it on display so the whole community could see.

My question was, isn't it those same kind of homes (mud homes) that got destroyed and consequently killed thousands of Haitians?

Why would he want to donate those very same homes to Haiti?

Why do people think that Haiti is only worth garbage in the name of doing wonders?

But what gets me pissed off is that Haitians let them get away with all of that nonsense.

Haiti needs well built homes that can sustain earthquake and hurricanes.

Let us stop collecting garbage and rejects from people.
