I understand your point very well. We have to protect our agricultural goods in order to safeguard Haiti's economic well being.
Haitians buy Miami rice instead of Artibonite Rice because it is cheaper and possibly tastes better to them. What we need is not to deprive people of what they want but instead, we could be MORE competitive.i.e.sell better and cheaper rice to Haiti.
We could give them an incentive to buy Artibonite Rice.
Haiti does not sell bottled water; We are not in competition with anybody else for bottled water.
At this juncture, Haiti, particularly, Port-au-Prince needs safe drinking water and I am glad that the water is finally available to them.
As far as I know, there is know addictive substance in bottled water from anywhere.
I used to drink mainly Perrier water until the scandal of their water earlier this decade. But that could happen to any company who is not careful enough while bottling the water.
Yes, so far, Alaskan Water is good water.Take a peak at the State and you might understand that it is wildly natural and unpolluted.
You are right about chemical additives in America's products and we must be aware of products that Haiti is buying for consumption...
This is the reason some Americans are buying local produce from local farmers.
Nobody can make you buy what you don't want to buy. You always have the ultimate choice of saying "No".
I have faith in Haitians, they are very capable of rejecting something that they don't want...
Brian Andrew is not a spy. He is a civilian, an American.
He is also one of my renters.
He is interested in Haiti because he knows that I am Haitian.
He seems like a good guy, his rent is always paid on time each and every month.
He is not one of the deadbeats that I have to hunt down when rent is due...
By the way, I love Haiti with all my heart.
I would like to say that I am heading to Haiti because I need a break. This winter is getting to me but instead I am heading for Brazil in two days for a week. I need to see blue sky and palm trees...Thought of Tortuga Island or even La Navase Island, the latter has no inns and permission is required, can you imagine this. I opted for a safer bet, Brazil.
I don't give up the idea that some day I can go to Haiti without fear for personal safety...
