Our thirst for a leader made us embrace Aristide, because he dared to talk, though under the umbrella of the church.

Aristide was never prepared to be president, we could not see that, blinded by passion.

Now we know, we must elect the right people.

We must scrutinize them. We should put a system in place where we have independent accountants audit the administration every year and call "chalbari" if something is wrong.

One billion dollars Aristide stole is nothing compared to the thousands of lives the army took away, either under the order of a president, or on its own under Magloire, Namphi, Avril, Cedras; Who also became multi-millionaires -> Thousands of millionaires amount more that a few billions, don't it?

But you do have a point though, we could also get rid of the presidency also, and leave the position of "Prime minister" only, whom would be chosen and replaced by the parliament, in order to get rid of the so-called mysticism and grandeur that surrounds the title of president and makes a president feel like God when so many expected and unexpected people are ready to kiss his ugly ass for a favor.

Some rich even bring their beautiful wives or daughters to the president to get, for instance, a franchise, a tax exemption, etc.
But are we ready for that move yet?

I don't think so. We need some long-term political stability first and most importantly an economic level that will be more important for all to saveguard instead of provoking some childish rebellion or unrest by design, ambition, or fake pride.

ALL THAT REQUIRES A DEEP SENSE OF NATIONALISM or PRATRIOTISM OF COURSE.

WE SHOULD REINSTATE THE "INSTRUCTION CIVIQUE" IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL to teach young haitians to love their country before themselves.

A LOT TO DO BUT DAMN! NO MORE ARMY TALK! IT IS NOT NECESSARY.

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE A FEW THOUSAND LAZY CRIMINALS ON OUR BACK ANY LONGER unless they would be workers for reconstruction, reforestation, disaster relief.

You know they will not be because of the tradition.

Let's talk about it 20 years from now.
ARMY IS A WASTE AND SELF-IMPOSED DICTATORSHIP.
