Linda, we talked about this subject before, however we must keep talking about it untill the government and the people come to their senses and do something about it. I love the solutions you have so far suggested.

I, d like the "trashers"to be fined" and serve some jail time!!! Returning the plastic bottles to the vendors make a lot of sens, but I think that can be difficult to implement.

I Think the vendors should buy back these plastic containers, and the government to offer some incentive to these vendors.

Trash control can create a business opportunities from collecting to recycling used materials.

Here is an excerpt from a post:"Renmen pep la pa vle di ke pou ou kite li fe sa li vle.Menm jan nou fe prison pou Vole, an nou mete malprop yo ak tout salop yo yon kote pou yo reflechi.Isit Ozetazini, TOut kote nous passe nou we " do not Liter, ^ month in jail or $1000 fine" Ki vle di " Pa jete fatra.

ou bien ou pran 6 mois prizon ou bien ou peye mil dola" .epui piblie non salop yo nan jounal'.

Some of our "comptriotes" living abroad should stop picking up trash to send home! From old, cars to can, dirty and ugly furnitures, matresses, bikes, you name it. Our gouvernment allows it! if the government dares to curb the import of trash, some Journalists will claim that the government is "anti peuple".

For example, I remember in the early 80's, in Cap-Haitien, people started to sell "pepe", also called " kennedy", at the proximity of a beautiful square on " Rue 3 K".

Certain journalists such as Tonton Meme and Marcelus criticize the Govmnt and the City mayor who were trying to stop the import and selling of "trash".

It was a daily song! now almost the entire city becomes a flee market! That square is gone. Take a trip to the port of Miami (Fla), Elizabeth (NJ) and other ports in the US, you will see how many boats full of trash ready to leave fo HAITI.

This has greatly hurt our image and economy.

Yet the Government doesn't care. many of our leaders can not make the difference betwween 'laissez faire" and democracy which is the highest level of "demagogy" in Haiti.

Our journalists will call anyone "anti peuple" if that person is trying to restore order.

I wish every one sees the trash as a problem that needs to be stopped at its source.

The trashers should be fined and/or put in prisons when when caught.

I heard that the trash is also a political and tool used for vengeance.

(that is another topic for someone to rlaborate on )
