Linda, Do you realize that the US has YET to have a political coup in that same period?

You can't grow if you're in a constant state of flux or crisis.

Haiti USED TO BE democratic, albeit limited, until 1957. Papa Doc eliminated all of that and set us back in time. So since 1987, we've been trying to get our act together again.

Hate to burst your bubble, but if you have a beautiful mansion and you blow it up, first you're to have to clean up the mess THEN rebuild.

example: World Trade Center.

Such is the state of Haiti.

The issue we have right now is that when people were not used to having a voice, it will take some time before they can learn both HOW and WHEN to express themselves.

You can't force it. It has to come in its own time. Now, with the right leaders, it can happen ALOT faster!
Like you, I'd rather see 2 or 3 parties hash it out, but how do you decide which ones are legitimate and worthy of the people's trust without a track record of them doing the right thing?
