About The Ego!

< Previous | Home | Next >

Greeting Everyone from the Lionne Club. Bonjour a tous.
The ego is an idea of the self that is inconsistent with our true identity.

We view life as a competitive exercise, which foster anxiety about our place in the world.

We try to prove that we are better than other people.

We feel we need to achieve more, to look better, to accumulate more, and we seek outer honors.

We judge and find fault in others. The ego convinces us that we are special.

Who we are is a spiritual being having a human experience.

Specialness implies that we are more worthy than others, it blocks the awakening of our true identity and our awareness of unconditional love. Whenever you are offended, you are at the mercy of your ego.By setting up external rules of how you are to be treated is a way of of guaranteeing a terminal state of being offended.

When you sufficiently restrained your ego, you will be able to treat the onslaughts of others as doing what they do and see your fellow humans as they are, rather than as you think they should be. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin wrote: " We are one, after all, you and I: together we suffer, together we exist, and forever will recreate each other".

Each of us has our own path to traverse and each will be tested in many ways. We are a soul with a body, not a body with a soul.
