On Becoming An Activist

< Previous | Home | Next >

Know yourself: You exist in many roles in the world, as worker, caregiver, consumer, service provider, investor, voter, resident, each role carries responsibilities.

As a consumer you should become informed about the products you buy. You should chose not to purchase products that harm the environment, that were produced by slave wages (sweat shops) or were extracted by Corporations that have a record of raping the resources of other countries
(Shell-Texaco and its subsidiaries).

Be informed and challenge your preconceptions.

Find out where your pension is being invested, why wars are being fought in your name.Find out the corporations names that are involved, do not purchase their products.

Be inspired and trust the movement.

You do not have to fight every battle.

There are millions of others fighting with you. Believe in activism, a little goes a long way. Write a few letters or attend a vigil or protest.

There will always be cruelty, violence, and destruction.

We cannot eliminate all devastation for all time, but we can try to outlaw it, reduce it, and undermine its sources and foundations. The following are some human rights organizations.

Choose wisely.
