Dr. Mathurin and his wife have become very passionate about the prospects of some very significant well of petroleum and other precious metals found in the sous-sol of Haiti.

Haiti is known as the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere due to its lack of production almost at every level.

Most researchers know that Haiti is not poor because of a lack of resource but more so due to a lack of appropriation of resources.

From human resource to natural raw material resource, Haiti have failed to generate proper strategies to maximize them. It is unacceptable that such a discussion should still be dormant in the Haitian media, community and abroad.

They should be calling government officials one by one to tell the people of Haiti what they intend to do with the eventual wells of Haiti.

Haitians need and are asking of the perception of potential investors now and their plan for the future in Haiti.

Petroleum in Haiti would mean deliverance for the Haitian people provided that their leaders do not allow themselves into the corrupted trap in which the wealth of the nations serve for the welfare of big foreign corporations while the nation of Haiti suffers.

If many consider what oil represents in Nigeria: war, tribal tensions, extreme institutionalized corruption, slavery and poverty, then Haiti will need to consider their politics and economic strategy carefully, negotiating wisely and exploit cautiously those opportunities come knocking at their door with this new finding in their time of dire need and circumstances.

A Haiti with oil should be considered a prosperous Haiti.

Not a divided society where the nation continues to sink deeper and deeper in despair, where a small group of privileged people lay hold on all possible chances for Haiti's development along with neighboring resentful Dominican Republic as was the case in the past or even now. Haiti needs to engage the discussion with the government, let them speak to the people, once again tell them what they intend to do with the prospects of petrol in the sous-sol of Haiti.

The Haitian people of the Island of Hispaniola do not accept that they remain silent on a matter of such great importance.

They need to bring more experts on site to give clear indication on whether or not we can count on the future that oil can help us build.

This is absolutely not the time for quiet government.

They need to talk to the people even with daily briefing on how are they progressing on with issues that matter to the people.

What many are saying about this nation that has gone through some real deplorable situations, shame, humiliation, even slavery in modern time of today in the Dominican Republic.

Personally most Haitians cannot wait for the day when they can start to bring back every single Haitians from the braceros of the Dominican Republic back to Haiti.

Dominicans do not work the sugar cane plantations over there as has been reported by many activists and human rights groups deployed in the Dominican Republic.

Due to the common of xenophobia toward the Haitians over there, the Dominican people do not know the flavor of what it means to be a nation of hard workers like the Haitians suffering this great travesty of critical plights they are now facing as a nation.

The Dominican government have expressed no firm concerns on the situations either nor has it shown any possible effort to work with its neighboring nation in regard on how to improve the relation between them. It is estimated that about two-thirds of the Economy of the Dominican Republic depends on the exploited hard cheap labor of the Haitian migrants crossing or smuggled into the Country in the hope and promise of looking for work for a better life to support their family in Haiti or even themselves.

Much of the infrastructural progress and prosperity there in the Dominican Republic is due in parts of the great sacrificing contribution of the hard Haitian labor workers working the domain of Housing construction there.

Oil in Haiti would mean freedom from Dominican slavery and boat-people status which depict Haiti as a always known pariah estate in the eyes of most of the International body, considerably by France.

It would mean a Haiti with voice in the OPEC and with a formal space in global economic decision.

It would no longer an under nourished impoverish Country waiting outdoor for crumbs and handouts from the table of the foreign economic giants of our days. Even with the Caribbean nations which have pretentiously integrate Haiti in CARICOM will change their attitude towards the Country which most Haitians question genuinely CARICOM and their stances on the caribbean issues of Haiti.

Oil in Haiti would be a chance for the nation to become a global donor in the fight against poverty, not a receiver of the so called international aid which often goes to NGOs that mostly spend it in lavishing luxurious life styles.

Scientists wish or hope to hear the Haitian government telling the people what they intend to do with the news of significant oil wells in Haiti demanding proper debates on the matter so that they may start looking at more significant ways to help sharpen the Haitian dream fro the Haitian people of Haiti.
