Warren, As I understand it, the Episcopal Church in Haiti has about 70.000 members.

So, I have a suggestion.

Rather than look for ways for the donor community to support programs in Haiti and then talk about sustainable and scalable, how about setting up a relationship via the Church elders so that the Haitian Church gets out to the villages and works with the projects.

I am a little bit tired of hearing about all of the development experts and business wannabee tycoons traveling back and forth between Haiti and meetings in Miami, DC, Madrid and Brussels, among other places to promote jatropha at the village level.

At least at the Church level, we have a common interest and one that can be based on mutual trust.

I do not question the sincerity of the donor/expat community, but, come-on, I'm from a small town in west central Wisconsin.

And, I don't think that the honorable citizens of this community would be willing to follow the expats.

So, why do we think that the Haitian farmer will listen to the donors.

Or, why do we think that the resources will be used efficiently?

Steve

Sir, I wrote the above email to some collegues who, along with me, are working on a small project to develop village programs.

Any feedback as to possible approaches at the village level?
