My Response On The Arising Dual Citizenship Issue

< Previous | Home | Next >

Just because you cannot understand my logic and rational for being "NOT SO MUCH FOR IT" does not mean it has to make sense to you in other for it to make sense to others.

Perhaps and maybe that is just it, it does not make sense "TO YOU" whatsoever.

Granted regarding the Extradition matter, I feel for you brother that it does not work both ways and that itself needs to be fixed before and in other for Haiti to allow Dual Citizenship for the same and mere reasons I have given before for Haitians wanting to go to Haiti, serve and commit a crime then think they can simply just flee because they know of such glitch, loophole, infraction or even discrepancy of the double standard of the Extradition Policy therein exist between Haiti and the US.

There are major difference good or bad as to whether or not someone is a Dual Citizenship President or not the difference in question will always be if such an individual really and truly have Haiti's interests at heart, mind and soul and not the interests of manipulative International Foreigners which will always poise as a question to many anyway in Haiti, especially within the Haitian political arena.

Regardless if not everyone who wants it wish to hold Government official jobs in Haiti which I never said all of them but those who wish to. As with that being said and mentioned, you have proven my point once again that it does not require one to hold a government position or affiliation to do for Haiti, to give back to Haiti or to accomplish certain level of civic duty where such a restriction of dual citizenship does not exist and which there are plenty.

Haitians just need to take time to look for these functions that does not require dual citizenship and start getting to it already and do for Haiti.

However, as we all know that in the Haitian DNA make up, most, if not all, are greedy for power and want to be in charge as we have the records of HISTORY to prove it along with the not stupidity there is going on in the Haitian house of Chambers and Parliament in Haiti thus meaning this power struggle between the legislative branch to include their own inner polemic with the executive branch to include his lack of leadership on many certain aspects of his presidency.

I am oblivious as to why after the second rejection of his designated choice Prime Minister nominee had he not declare ruling the Country by decree as he once done before then the Country would not be in this escape that it is in right now. Golly, I mean three whole a$$ months without a managing functioning Government after a serious crisis and the firing of a Prime Minister.

Only in Haiti and believe me, there are no false perception about that dear friend.

Well as I said, when one is about to make the decision of becoming a US Citizen or in any other parts of the world, those options are always the ones to consider seriously and to fully understand what it means for as becoming a Citizen of another Country you are doing just that which is the rejection of those alienable rights which those Haitians are well aware of when they are becoming citizens of another Nations which by that time and upon swearing in and by lifting up your right hand, you are not longer a full righted Haitian Citizen regardless if here in the US your record would still say DUAL CITIZEN by the way and mind you that I say "NO LONGER A FULL RIGHTED HAITIAN CITIZEN" so that it is clear to you to comprehend what it is I am trying to say brother.

Anyway one thing I could leverage with you on is the fact until recently this Dual Citizenry has never really been an issue due to the fact then the Haitian Constitution was too often ignored and the fact that a fully Democratic system has never had a chance to prevail in Haiti dating any dates before Aristide regardless of any unrest from his terms and now there may be. Thus many Haitian Government Officials were or have been holding High office positions with dual citizenships, but as I said, it was because then the nature and conditions of and as to how they have gotten in or to power were not democratic or did so with total disregard to the Constitution or partially at least.

Those conditions I am talking about are the constant Coups and overthrowing presidents.

So indeed until now, this dual Citizenship was not and never an issue because it was unheard of and unmentioned of or used to only frown upon and its prevention were never re-enforced by legislative because they then would not dare undermined the Authority of a dictator or placed Coup regime.

There has never been a truly a 10Th Department, but only ideologically considered, this term came to existence or was re-enforced by Aristide when he was elected the first who wanted to give the Haitian Diaspora and Elites or private rich sectors which he knew too often travel and may have resided in other Countries a sense that they, too, can contribute to Haiti at least in terms of drawing them in to invest and travel to Haiti which has always been proven to have been quite lucrative to and for Haiti's economy because when the Diaspora go to Haiti they spend and that is because they can afford to spend.

Thus to sorry to disappoint you on this that indeed you are right.

There cannot be a 10Th Department because such a department never truly existed in terms it was only an ideological recognition but this ideology has never prevented or denied those who never actually rejected their Haitian Citizenry the right to vote, because as long as you have a valid updated Haitian passport or you are only a Green Card holder, you still could vote in Haiti pure and simple.

The Haitian Government is not and has never been tried to have it both ways, it is Haitian naturalized Americans who have been trying to have it both ways. I am very much in touch with Haiti, Haitian since I go there every six months or almost every year and participate in many domains in Haiti that never requires for my dual citizenship.

Such as, my partaking and investing in helping built schools Country side provincial regions of Haiti, Farmers programs.

I have been part of many missionary missions in Haiti yet I am not a religious person nor am I affiliated with any certain specific denominations as I consider myself agnostic; but I go and help out. There are many programs, projects and parameters of organizations the Haitians diaspora can be surrogate sponsors to and help to develop in Haiti without the need of dual citizenship.

In fact, there are even some governmental endeavors many Haitian diaspora can help with and contribute to that they simply might need the voucher or waver of a Haitian politician or official as a surrogate supporter.

I am not saying wanting to institute dual citizenship a bad call, I am saying that it may needs some time to let it resonate with many and if the Haitian political arena as well as those diaspora are even really truly ready for such a drastic legislative shift and commitment.

Oh come on, "Last time I checked, Haitians are the most patriotic beings ever lived, they love their country, Haiti, more than life itself despite all the odds." Surely you cannot hope for everyone or critics to agree with that statement.

Obviously not patriotic enough if most of them are naturalized citizens in other Countries.

Anybody can claim they love Haiti, even those politicians doing Haiti wrong right now in Haiti believe they too love Haiti.

Those majority of Haitians you mention whom have been in the us for 20 to even 50 years are not homesick enough for as a naturalized or a US citizen you can travel, reside and even retire in almost anywhere in the world and they have not been denied or kept from going to Haiti to vacation, reside or even retire there as they still can. You know what, I will even go as far to take a slight contradicting stance in saying that: I would like to see this Dual Citizenship take effect so that I could see just how many Haitians would actually really do "do" anything for Haiti which right now they are not even partaking or engaging in doing much already in Haiti or regarding its plight.

There are fundraisers, food and clothing drives, people can donate.

Point being is, if a Haitian is not or was not already engaged in helping Haiti; some dual citizenship allowance may not necessarily means that it will be effective that they would then.

Ironically enough, some places in Africa are way much more dangerous than Haiti, yet I have hardly (the word is hardly, not never) heard them say fear has kept them from going to their African land and home village and do for them. Haitians claim they love Haiti everyday yet they are the same ones who are quick to become US citizens or citizens of other Countries and make those Countries their homes with not intents to ever truly going back to Haiti because as long as they can assure where their next piece of chicken and bread is coming from and when, Haiti could be the least of their worries.

Those Haitians are the one who are not in touch with Haiti and Haitians as they only want the dual citizenry so that they too can become part of the Haiti elite and empowering force in Haiti.

You said "If Haitians did not love their country so much, Haiti would have sinked to the bottom of the ocean a longtime ago. In 2003 alone, Haitian diaspora sent $800 million to their families in Haiti which kept the economy running." Well, I guess Dominicans and Mexicans have died and comeback for their Country by far already more than Haitians could ever have or do because they send more than or close to $1 Billion every year.
